The GD213 chore coat is Glenn's take on this enduring workwear staple. The chore coat originated in France, in the late nineteenth century, intended as a functional layering piece to throw on on top of overalls or a shirt. The roomy fit, oversized patch pockets, and durable fabrics it was made from were all a function of its intended use on the job site, whatever that job might have been. Before long the garment caught on in the USA. Carhartt was one of the early-adopters in America. Whereas in France it was commonly produced in moleskin or cotton drill, Carhartt began producing it in denim, and later, cotton canvas. While there are now endless variations on this iconic staple, the basic template is alive and well today, whether its worn on the job site, or just as an everyday lightweight, rugged layering piece.

Glenn's take on the classic style features a relaxed fit - plenty of room to move and wear layers underneath, without being baggy or oversized. The length hits below the waist, halfway down the hips. There are 3 exterior patch pockets, and one interior patch pocket at the breast. Button closure on the cuff.

FABRIC AND WASH:

• 13 Oz (Medium weight) selvedge denim woven in the USA exclusively for Glenn's Denim.
• COLOR: "Ash Black" - Black warp / natural weft, for a smokey faded black color.
• WASH: Washed. This garment has been washed one time to give it a slightly broken in look and feel.
• Note that this ash black denim fades with natural irregularities, which contribute to the look of the fabric.  Some coloration and distressing is considered a normal attribute of this garment.
• SHRINKAGE:  This garment is pre-shrunk.

• Made in New York City
• 3 exterior patch pockets (one at the chest, 2 at the hips)
• 1 interior patch pocket at the right chest
• "GLENN'S" label on exterior pocket
• "Glenn's Denim" signature buttons and rivets in antique steel.
• Signature green stitching for subtle contrast.
• Locker loop at inner neck line
• Wash cold and lay flat to dry.

Glenn Liburd has worked behind-the-scenes at some of the biggest denim companies in the world, starting by sweeping the floors in denim factories in his home country of Trinidad as a teenager, and most recently creating bespoke jeans for a major denim brand in New York. His entire 30-year career of mastering the art of denim design, fit, and craftsmanship has culminated in his eponymous line, currently available exclusively at Brooklyn Tailors.
