A member of the Brooklyn Tailors team at our Williamsburg studio.

Brooklyn Tailors began in 2007 with the purpose of offering something simple yet impossibly hard to find:  a custom-made suit of superb quality, with a modern design aesthetic, and at a price that one could actually afford. We began outfitting the eclectic cast of characters in our community of Brooklyn and greater New York City, and in turn, our approach and sensibility have been inspired by this diverse group of creatives, innovators, and entrepreneurs ever since.

Today, as we've grown, added a ready-to-wear collection to our offering, and widened our scope, custom-made clothing is still at the heart of what we do at Brooklyn Tailors, with the belief that clothing made especially for you is not only the way to a perfect fit, it is also the best expression of your individuality.

We look forward to working with you to create something truly unique. Pay us a visit at our Brooklyn studio, where our resident custom tailoring specialist will walk you through the process, and help you find exactly what you're looking for.

We are located at 181 North 11th Street in the heart of Williamsburg, Brooklyn. We are conveniently located near the L and G subway lines across from McCarran Park. This is where you can pay us a visit for an initial consultation, before deciding if you'd like to move forward with an order. And once we begin the process, this is where you'll come for subsequent fittings. Visits are by-appointment only. Email us at or call us at (646) 844-1784 to schedule an appointment with our custom specialist, Rob Troise.

We offer two tiers of customization: Made To Measure, and Bespoke. Both of these services allow customers a great degree of flexibility at every stage in the process, a wide range of available materials, and garments that are meticulously developed from the ground up for the individual customer. But, there are differences between the two services as described in more detail below. Regardless of whether your order is Made to Measure or Bespoke, the process always begins with a conversation between you and our team. To create a truly great article of custom clothing, we need more than just your measurements - it is essential that we get to know who you are, get a sense of your personality and tastes, so that we can create something that not only fits your body well, but also fits your individual character and sensibility.

Here are some additional details about those services:

For customers who need certain modifications from the ready-to-wear models, but do not require the fully bespoke service, we offer a special order option. Working from one's closest off-the-rack size, we can make certain straightforward adjustments to the standard model to better suit the customer. All necessary adjustments are discussed and noted at the initial fitting, and the pre-existing pattern is adjusted to create a customer's custom garment from a fabric of their choosing. After the initial fitting, the garment is put into production for completion, with no midpoint fitting. This option is for those who like the style of our off-the-rack suits, but just need a few tweaks to the pattern to improve the fit. The turnaround is typically around eight weeks for special order suits and shirts.

The bespoke process offers one complete flexibility in terms of the fit, style, and detailing of their garment, and is centered around a highly in-depth development of the garment's fundamental fit in response to the individual's desired silhouette, as well as their particular posture, build, and stance. The bespoke suit process typically takes fourteen weeks and is completed in a series of three fittings. The process begins with a discussion of the desired garment, after which the customer's body measurements are taken, and fabric, trim and detailing options are reviewed. We then create a completely new pattern for that customer. At a second fitting, the test garment is tried on and any final adjustments are made before tailoring the final garment. Bespoke is the best option for those who do not fit well into our off-the-rack styles, who want something stylistically different from what we offer ready made, or who want to be very involved in the process of building a garment from the ground up. Bespoke shirts are typically a series of three fittings and take around fourteen weeks to complete. For a first order for bespoke shirts, three or more must be ordered at once. Smaller subsequent orders are allowed.

Don't worry! That's part of our job. We'll have a chat at your initial consultation, and get a better idea of your needs. From there, we'll give our recommendation as to whether bespoke is the way you should go, or if made to measure can accommodate your needs fully. While we always say that "bespoke allows us to do our job best for you, while allowing you the highest level of flexibility,"  we also realize that bespoke may not always prove necessary in every case, and want to find the solution for you that is most cost-effective and time-efficient for you, without compromising the end result.
